Cupcake Magic

Having managed to book out all the hens for the rescue at Gordano next week with a lucky run of phone calls, I thought I would knock up some cupcakes. Got a great book Cupcake Magic from Dart's Farm a few weeks back and having met the lady that wrote the book (and eaten one of her cakes) at the rescue on Sunday, I was feeling rather inspired.

They weren't entirely asthetically pleasing because I think I rather hurried the icing, but the real reason there's no picture is because we were in too much of a hurry to eat them. Even the parrot rather enjoyed the sugar butterflies.

So instead, a couple of pictures from a walk last week a reminder that it has been sunny as some point in the last week, even though it was only for 7 minutes.

Reading Will be Your Next Station Stop

I've been to Reading today.

On a train.

It made my feet hurt so I am drawing a metaphorical line under the whole experience.

There's a lovely cottage pie in the oven featuring carrots, peas, french beans and potatoes all of which we grew ourselves in our allotment (I think I borrowed this tree from the Banana Frog blog by the way).
I'd been looking to use this lovely Sassafras Lass paper and it just seemed to fit with these pictures which I took from my (very comfy) camping bed. For the record, the trick to a comfy camping bed is to have a thick duvet (not a sleeping bag) to go on top and another duvet on top of the air bed to make you all snuggly. Very hard to get out of which I why I lie in taking pictures instead of getting up.
Well that's the oven timer and there's another X Files with my name on so off I pop.

The Truth is Out There

Aaah, X Files episodes. Nothing quite like them for giving the place that lovely mid 1990s ambience. Now lets pop on a bit of Take That and dance around in our bedrooms wearing tie dye shall we? No? Just me then.

Anyway there's aliens doing something to someone and Mulder is quite cross about it, or something else. It's not making too much sense, but when did it ever?

Right, to business. Here are some on the things I've been working on lately..

Note the newsprint flowers. They're made from David Mitchell's column in The Observer - always nice to inject the occasional dash of moral outrage into a layout.

This was an attempt deal with a bad case of the sulks about not being able to book flights to America this year. Didn't help, actually made it worse but nice to use the lovely new October Afternoon papers. Also, love the little K&Co aeroplane adventure stamp. Unfortunately, I've now lost it so this may be its one and only apperance which is a shame really.

I think that probably do for now, not least because I want to put my pyjamas on and watch Tim Minchin (why does his eyeliner look better than mine?). Sleep tight - I know I will.
